About Us

“We”, “us” or “our” means Metro Atlanta Street Hockey Association Inc., with its principal place of business located at Mark Ogden Hockey Rink at Pinckneyville Park in Norcross, GA.

About This Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to us, so we’ve developed this Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, store, and disclose your personal information. We collect personal information when you use our website(s), mobile app, and other online and offline products, services and experiences (collectively, the “Services”). Please take a moment to read through this Policy in its entirety.

If you have any questions, concerns or complaints regarding this Privacy Policy or how we use your personal information please contact us via e-mail at info@mashahockey.com.

What Personal Information We Collect and How We Collect It

We collect personal information that you provide directly to us, as well as information generated through your use of the Services:

Account and contact information. When you register for an account, sign up to receive our newsletter, or receive emails or text messages from us, we collect your name, email address, and any other contact information you provide (such as a phone number or mailing address). We use email-based login codes/links to sign you in, and we record the date your account was created.

League activity information. When you use the Services, we collect information about your participation, including the games you RSVP to, your attendance/availability responses, your assigned role (for example, player or administrator), your membership status (such as whether you hold a season/summer pass), and whether a drop-in fee has been recorded as paid.

Messages and content. If you use the in-app chat or messaging features, we collect the messages, reactions, and any other content you post, along with the time it was posted.

Payment information. Drop-in fees and other payments are processed by third-party payment providers (such as PayPal and Venmo). We do not collect or store your full payment card or bank account details; that information is collected and stored directly by the payment provider you choose and is governed by its own privacy policy. We only receive and store a record of whether a payment was made (for example, “paid,” “pending,” or “unpaid”).

Device and notification information. If you enable push notifications, we collect a device push token and your notification preferences so we can deliver alerts (such as game reminders and chat updates) to your device.

Usage and analytics information. As you use the Services, we may automatically collect information about how you interact with them, such as the features and screens you use, actions you take, pages viewed, the dates and times of your visits, and general diagnostic information. We may also collect device and technical information such as device type, operating system and version, app version, language settings, and a device or installation identifier. We may collect this information using analytics tools and similar technologies to understand usage trends and improve the Services.

Survey and feedback information. You may provide us with other personal information when you fill in a form, respond to our surveys or questionnaires, provide us with feedback, participate in promotions, or use other features of the Services.

How We Store Your Personal Information

We store your personal information using trusted third-party infrastructure and service providers who process it on our behalf, including:

  • Google Firebase (database, authentication, cloud functions, and hosting) — used to store account data, league activity, and messages, and to authenticate sign-ins.
  • Expo and Apple/Google push notification services — used to deliver push notifications to your device.
  • PayPal and Venmo — used to process payments. As noted above, payment card and bank details are handled by these providers, not by us.
  • Analytics providers — used to help us understand how the Services are used and to improve them.

These providers store and process data on our behalf and are required to safeguard it. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

How We Use Your Personal Information

We use the personal information we collect for the following reasons:

  • To operate and provide the Services, including managing your account, game scheduling, RSVPs, rosters, membership status, and recording drop-in fee payment status.
  • To enable communication features such as in-app chat and league messaging.
  • To send you notices, updates, security alerts, push notifications, and support or administrative messages.
  • To send you our newsletter, or other information or marketing about our Services that may be of interest to you.
  • To reply to your questions, inquiries, feedback, or customer service requests.
  • To monitor, measure, and analyze trends, usage, and activity in connection with the Services — including through analytics tools — so we can understand how the Services are used and improve them.
  • To facilitate contests, sweepstakes and promotions, and to process entries and provide prizes and rewards.
  • To detect, investigate and prevent fraudulent activity and other illegal activities on the Services and to protect the rights and property of us and our members.
  • To carry out our obligations arising from any contracts entered into between you and us, including for billing and collection.

How We Share Your Personal Information

We may share your personal information in the following ways:

  • Within the league. Certain information (such as your name, RSVP status, role, and chat messages) is visible to other members or to league administrators as part of the normal operation of the Services.
  • With vendors and service providers who process your personal information on our behalf, such as our hosting and database provider (Google Firebase), notification providers (Expo, Apple, Google), payment providers (PayPal and Venmo), and analytics providers.
  • In connection with a business transaction, such as a merger, sale of company assets, financing or acquisition of all or a portion of our business by another company.
  • For legal reasons. We may be legally required to disclose or share your personal information without your consent in some circumstances, for example to comply with a court order or law enforcement. In such circumstances, we will only disclose your personal data if we have a good-faith belief that such sharing is required under applicable legal obligations.

Your Marketing Choices

When you sign up for a promotion like a sweepstakes, or subscribe to our newsletter or marketing/promotional messages, we use your personal information to help us decide which products, services and offers may be of interest to you.

We will send marketing messages to you if you have asked us to send you information, bought goods or services from us, or if you provided us with your details when you entered a competition or registered for a promotion. If you opt out of receiving marketing messages, we may still send you non-promotional emails. We will ask for your consent before we share your personal information with any third party for their direct marketing purposes.

You may unsubscribe from marketing messages through a link we include on messages we send you. You can also ask us to stop sending you marketing messages at any time by contacting us at info@mashahockey.com. You can manage push notifications at any time in your device settings or in the app.

Retention of Your Data and Deletion

Your personal information will not be kept longer than is necessary for the specific purpose for which it was collected.

When we decide how long we will keep your information we consider the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the personal information, the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure, why we need it, and any relevant legal requirements (such as legal retention and destruction periods).

You may delete your account at any time from within the app, which removes your profile and associated personal information from active use in the Services. The foregoing will, however, not prevent us from retaining any personal information if it is necessary to comply with our legal obligations, in order to file a legal claim or defend ourselves against a legal claim, or for evidential purposes. To request deletion, you may also contact us at info@mashahockey.com.

International Transfers

We will ensure that any transfer of personal information to countries outside of the United States will take place pursuant to the appropriate safeguards.

Minors

The minimum age to participate in our league and use the Services is 16. The Services are not directed to, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from, children under 16. Some of our participants are minors aged 16 or 17; where a participant is under 18, we expect a parent or legal guardian to review this Privacy Policy and consent to the minor’s registration and use of the Services. If you believe a child under 16 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at info@mashahockey.com and we will take steps to delete it.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

From time to time, we have the right to modify this Privacy Policy. We’re likely to update this Privacy Policy in the future and when we make changes. Please come back and check this page from time to time for the latest information on our privacy practices.
