Fury Storm to Winter 2026 MASHA Championship in Overtime Thriller

The Winter 2026 MASHA Playoffs delivered three tight, fast-paced games capped by an overtime classic, as the third-seeded Fury rode timely scoring and clutch saves to their first title — denying the back-to-back champion Running Rebels a shot at a three-peat in the process.

In Semifinal #1, Fury opened the day with a 6–3 win over Panda Watch. Donald Kleckner led the way with a hat trick and the game-winner, while Michael McChesney racked up four assists to set the table for everyone around him. Brian Saling scored twice for Panda Watch and Chris Hamel chipped in three points (1G, 2A), but the Fury defense was in top form while Daniel Deisz turned away 10 of 13 shots to keep them in front.

Semifinal #2 was a Hughes-brothers showcase as the top-seeded Running Rebels held off Sharpshooters 8–5. Mario and Mikole Hughes each finished with five points (2G, 3A), and Isaac Bagwell put up a four-goal performance, with Mario burying the GWG in the third. The Rebels looked to be cruising, up 6–3 in the third, but Sharpshooters refused to fold — Ivan Vukov (2G, 2A) and Danny Simons (2G, 1A) found the back of the net in quick succession to pull within one, with Will MacDonald (3A) helping orchestrate the surge. Unfortunately for them, the Rebels iced it with two late empty-netters to seal the win, while Brandon Thurmond stopped 12 of 17 to close out the effort.

The Championship was a back-and-forth classic. Fury raced out to a 3–0 lead behind a Greg Spivia two-goal first period and one from Art O’Connor, with Michael McChesney (3A) again setting up the early surge with a pair of assists. But the Running Rebels answered with four unanswered goals to flip the script and grab a 4–3 lead — Mario Hughes (2G, 2A) and Mikole (1G, 1A) leading the charge, with Dustin Edmonds and Jared Williams chipping in helpers. Fury didn’t blink. Donald Kleckner buried the equalizer midway through the third to send it to overtime, then struck again in the extra frame to give Fury the 5–4 win and the Winter 2026 trophy. Brian O’Connor and Sean Fleming were unsung heroes on the back end, helping shut down the otherwise unstoppable Rebels offense down the stretch. Kleckner finished the day with 5 goals, 3 assists, and the GWG in both Fury wins. Brandon Thurmond stopped 27 of 32 in the loss, while Daniel Deisz capped a perfect 2–0 playoff run in net.

The Winter 2026 MASHA season begins January 11th, with revamped rosters, familiar faces, and four captains leading the way in the race for the first title of the year.

Running Rebels (Captain: Jared Williams) return as defending champs, led by reigning MVP Isaac Bagwell, Rookie of the Year Mario Hughes, and standout Mikole Hughes. With Carson Rivadeneira, Josh Sprung, and goalie Brandon Thurmond back, they remain the team to beat.

Sharpshooters (Captain: Imran Farooqi) are loaded with returning talent, including Will MacDonald, Jordan Byers, and CJ Layer. Bob Kent returns in net to anchor a deep, experienced squad.

Panda Watch (Captain: Perry Holcombe) features First Team goalie Jeff Paré and defenseman Mike Jennings, with Chris Hamel, Matt Gazdik, and Brian Saling providing offensive punch.

Rebels Rally Past Panda Watch to Claim Fall 2025 MASHA Championship

The Fall 2025 MASHA Playoffs featured three intense games capped by an overtime finish, as the Running Rebels stormed back in dramatic fashion to win their second title of the year.

In Semifinal #1, Panda Watch advanced with a commanding 4–1 victory over Frozen Fury. Greg Spivia scored twice, while Michael McChesney added two assists. Suhail Desai and Perry Holcombe also found the back of the net, but the difference-maker was goaltender Jeff Paré, who turned away 25 of 26 shots to shut down a Fury offense led by the Hughes brothers.

Semifinal #2 saw the Rebels overpower the Knights 8–4, powered by breakout performances from Carson Rivadeneira (1G, 3A), MVP favorite Isaac Bagwell (2G, 1A), and Andrew Newett (1G, 2A). Will MacDonald added two goals, and goalie Brandon Thurmond made 24 saves to keep the Rebels in control throughout.

In the Championship, Panda Watch built a 3–1 lead late into the third thanks to goals from Danny Simons and McChesney, plus another strong outing from Paré. But the Rebels refused to quit—Bagwell and Thomas Ryerse scored back-to-back goals to force overtime, and Ryerse buried the game-winner minutes into the extra frame. Thurmond made 25 saves, while Bagwell’s four-point night (2G, 2A) sealed his MVP campaign and helped the Rebels lift the Fall 2025 trophy.

Rebels Capture Summer 2025 Title with Explosive Finals Performance

The Summer 2025 MASHA Playoffs delivered three high-scoring games and a well-earned championship for the Running Rebels, who outgunned both opponents on their path to the title.

In Semifinal #1, the Rebels defeated the Bulldogs 8–5 in a wild shootout. Donald Kleckner and Will MacDonald each notched six points, combining for six goals and six assists. Despite a four-goal rally from the Bulldogs in the third, the Rebels held on behind timely stops from Bob Kent and balanced scoring across their top lines.

Semifinal #2 was a thriller between Doc Hollidays and Panda Hockey Club. PHC jumped out to an early lead before temporarily losing star forward Perry Holcombe to injury. The Doc Hollidays clawed their way back and scored five times in the final frame to win 8–7. Jeff Hudson led the comeback with four goals, including the late game-winner, while Chris Haynes and Matt Gazdik added key contributions.

In the Championship, Doc Hollidays struck first with a 3–1 lead, but the Rebels surged back to tie it 4–4 entering the third. From there, Kleckner took over with a hat trick in the final period—finishing with five goals on the night—while MacDonald, Jennings, and Ryerse chipped in goals of their own to secure a 9–4 win and the Summer 2025 title.

Ex Presidents Claim Winter 2025 Title in Surprise Playoff Run

The Winter 2025 MASHA Playoffs delivered three competitive games and a new champion. With key absences across the league, The Ex Presidents made the most of the opportunity and secured the title with two strong wins.

In Semifinal #1, the Midnight Riders blanked Salsa 4–0 behind goals from Perry Holcombe (2), Brian Saling, and Alex Guevara. The Riders controlled the game from start to finish, while goalie Daniel Deisz recorded the shutout.

Semifinal #2 saw The Ex Presidents upset top-seeded Dawg Pac 3–1. Ivan Vukov, Brett Sawulski, and Danny Simons each scored, and Eric Phelps stopped 21 of 22 shots to send his team to the final.

In the Championship game, The Ex Presidents pulled ahead early and never trailed, beating the Midnight Riders 5–2. Vukov and Simons stayed hot, Elias Murcia added a key goal, and Captain Imran Farooqi sealed it with his first of the season. Phelps capped off his stellar day with another 21-save performance.
